He lives in under my window in my bedroom and gets quite alot of mroning light but sometimes not much. i admit i dont water him everyday. he's still in the pot i bouhgt him in and i dont kno the condition of the soil. how can i revive him? the top main branch in green under the bark aswell so thats a good sign rite? i dont kno wat to do without causing more damage. I live in england btw. and it can be quite cold outside and so i didnt put him utside at all thru the year. was i rong in keeping him inside?

Plant that tree OUTside right now, water in very well and then let nature do its thing... the best (maybe the only) chance for your tree now. Leave it there for even a couple of years, but certainly til next spring just before buds open, and by then hopefully you'll have learned more about bonsai. Elms should be outside where you live and if you look at www.bonsai4me.com you'll get a better idea of basics for now.

ok should i use the normal ground soil or bonsai soil..im new to this lol is direct sunlight good? or should i put it in the shade? do i water it often? or just allow rain?

Do not prune anything now - very bad timing. Do just plant it in the ground (no special soil) as long as it's not in any special stuff for flowers or veg. Maybe filtered sun (through another tree) would be best, though in the pot but out of midday sun if possible) for a few days, then planted in full sun would be best. Just let it rain, unless there's a serious deluge the first week or so (then cover with a pot for the worst of it) or it's dry for a couple of days in a row, in which case of course do water. And relax, elms are quite tough!

ok thanks for the advice :) oh should i keep all the roots when planting or do i cut some back? and also wuld just planting in the groun allow the tree to become taller? sorry for the questioning. oh 1 more question sorry, is it ok if i pinch off big leaves, to allow for smaller ones? or would it be better for the tree to become healthier first?
