I did a trunk chop on this tree last year and it popped out nicely.

Put it in this pot last week and did the first wiring on it.

Once it branches develop, it should make a beautiful little sumo.

Moving stuff into the greenhouse for the winter. Here is an update on my little ficus. It's been lightly pruned except for the apex branch to encourage more branching everywhere.

I like the roots too, and the little pebbles on the top of the soil look really nice. Satisfying contrast, but not too much. You must be proud of it.

Hi Zzepherdogg

The pebble looking stuff is Turface. It's not just on the top of the soil, but is the main ingredient of my soil.

It has a decent trunk and nebari. I now need to develop the top of the tree. Think it would look nice if the tree ends up a few inches shorter than it is now and a few inches wider than the pot on all sides.

May need to go with a rectangular pot in a year or two.

It should make a nice bonsai. Thanks.
