Anyone know of any collection sites for buttonwood, legal of course. Let me know if you wanna take a trip and track one or two down. I'm in Naples and would be willing to pick someone up in Marco, Ft. Myers, or anyone else close by to go for a trek. Open invitation...

Hi As you would suspect the most desirable cultivars are either very rare or non existantlol. You can buy gorgeous silver types for a couple of bucks . Better yet go find some being used as a hedge, They root very easily. Be careful what you pick up in the "wild" many species are now on the "endangered" list with hefty fines particularly orchids. Not buttonwood to my knowledge. Check out some of the "hammocks" in your area all kinds of fantastic plants to see though I wouldn't collect Winter is a good time to go out lot less snakes gators and biting insects!!! Corkscew swamp is far better than the everglades IMO lol gary |
