I don't understand what is wrong with it, it has not killed anything of mine yet. I hope it is OK because I used some of it to repot just about all of my trees and plants.
This looks innocent enough and like Al says seems to be a variation on products like certain cat litters, hydroleca, turface etc. which are all widely and successfully used as additions to bonsai soil.
However, I am always suspicious of claims for miracle ingredients. Often "quack" remedies, some kind of matrix selling operation or a salesman down on his luck.
Apologies to the poster if none of the above apply.
Espoma has alway been a reliable compay. I have used their products for years with good results and have no reason to think this is not a reliable product. It probably is a type of turface which has been used as a soil additive. Turface is now packaging a like product as a soil additive.
It's exactly the same as turface. The only difference is itÂs most likely more expensive because of the packaging and marketing etc It would be fine to use I'm sure.
I have been using this product for about a year now as PART of my soil mix with good results. It is gray-black in color and very sharp in texture. As a general mix, I use 70% high fired clay, 15% bark and 15% soil perfector.
It is a little on the expensive side if you have a lot of trees but for my dozen or so, it isn't a big deal.
Anbody, can you clear my doubt? Do we need only bonsai wire to wire and train a branch or can I use garden trainer wire (Green color) to train a branch. Please help with the doubt
Actually, much like Schultz packages Turface MVP and sells it as Schultz Aquatic Plant Soil, Espoma packages Haydite and sells it as their 'Soil Perfector'. Many bonsai enthusiasts use Haydite as a fraction of their soils, but I've always found it comes in a size too large to be a good choice. YMMV
