White mould/ leaves wilting

Hello,
My bonsai tree is a zelkova Chinesse elm tree, I'm a first time buyer of a bonsai. It appears to have white cotton substance on the moss that looks like it's eating away at the moss in the plant pot. The leaves are wilting most have gone a yellow/ brown colour but a few look perfectly healthy. Some of the roots are coming to surface too. I spoke to a lady who specialises in them at the shop that I brought it from she suggested that the bonsai was dehydrated and to submerge it in water. I checked it today, it's moist and this has happened, I've moved the plant outside for ventilation but I'm not sure what's else I can do , any suggestions would be great

Thankyou .
