two summers ago I air layered a nice 12-15" branched segment of our Huge Scheff and potted it up to play with as bonsai.....last summer I removed many of the leaves because they became too large and unsightly...it simply grew them right back as large as ever. this summer, in the interest of experimentation, I removed all of the leaves after repotting into fresh soil and put it in the shade outside and forgot about it.....a month and a half later it is pushing growth from several new branch points, which makes me happy, but I would like to know if it is possible to dwarf the leaves a little bit....they get huge and push out so far from the main trunk that it ends up looking stringy no matter how much growth it has. Is there a way to reduce the overall leaf size, or to atleast keep them from reaching out so far from the trunk?
