well, I have a lot of questions and I need some big help from all of your experienced minds! I am taking on the task of trying to make a bonsai from a ficus elastica plant. Here is the first issue; The stems are very green, making me wonder if this is not a tree variety. I have taken the 2 stems and twisted them together with wire. Will they thicken up and grow together and turn brown like a normal tree root? Also, I know that this particular ficus has very large leaves, but I am hoping to get some advice as to how to shrink them. This is a task I want to take on and try to figure out, but I am not going to pretend that I really know what I am doing ;-) Those are my first 2 questions. I''m sure there will be more to come.
