new to bonsai, need advice

Last year, I had dumb blind luck with my first attempt at bonsai. Of course I did some reading first. I dug up part of a burning bush, pruned it, potted it up and it did great. The leaves changed color in the fall and I overwintered it in my unheated garage. Watered it about once a month and it actually budded up and came back to life for me! Now I have potted up an azalea which was given to me as a gift this spring. I think I've given it the proper soil and fertilizer. It looks very healthy. Today I trimmed the new growth which was mostly on the lower part of the shrub. My question is, will it probably overwinter successfully in my garage? When should I move it from the porch to the garage? I also have started a boxwood bonsai from a baby plant I bought. It's so cute! All advice appreciated.
