Fukien Tea

Figured a few of the members may enjoy this. I posted some pics before of this tree as it was being worked on, this is the final, in it's new home and out of the 'UFO' pot. About a year and a half of work from a 'shrub' that was cut down and started then neglected.

Yes it was grown in the tropics where things happen a little faster but I'm still satisfied. What it needs now is the foliage pads completed. It's a larger tree, 32" high with a base of about 10".

Good start, I particularly like the base. The top zig-zags a little too sharply for my taste. That may soften as the foliage pads fill in.

Well that was my problem, I liked the base and size too. The top is the least of the problems with this tree. It got off to a bad start as most do here but the price was right!!

All of the styling I'm doing now is to hide flaws which can't be removed or corrected. I've changed a lot of the branch positions in the past 6 months and finishing the foliage pads will hide a lot. It will never be a great tree but it will be a good one in the end.

One of the main reasons I'm working on it is because these trees, while being common in the central highlands, are not found in the provinces near the coast.

And I like the base dammit!!!
