Help identifying possible bonsai

I was given a half dead plant and was told it was a bonsai. It seems to have popped back to life and is even showing some new growth. I am having trouble identifying it. I have more pictures if needed. I'd love to figure it out so I can properly care for it.

My vote is ficus benjamina. A rooted sprig. That's two to two. aloha

It's definitely Castanospermum australe.

Ficus leaves, like almost ALL plants in the mulberry family and especially those of ficus benjamina, are conspicuously alternate - not opposite like the plant shown. The plant shown also has very unficus-like bark, not to mention the fact it's a seedling growing dead center out of the middle of a lucky bean (aka a Morton Bay chestnut). It's hard to get a ficus to do that. ;-)

Lol - it's not an election - If I switched sides and agreed with the Ficus ID, then it would be 3 wrong answers to one right.

lmao,,, too funny,,
the beanpod was the clue,,

ahh, so the down-unda variety huh Al?
you say Fabaceae, i say Malvaceae, Bombs-Away Bombacaceae. ! :)~~

..and then to top it all off, w/the clarity of soup,
"3 wrong answers to one right."
3 wrong answers, to 1 right.
3 wrong answers to one, right?
3 wrong, answers to one right?
3 wrong, answers two-one right.
...12 one way, 1/2 dozen......whos on 1st again?? hehe

couldnt resist, Antoinette luvs this game too, i thinks shes a bonsai gal maybe?

SilentIsFineThankYouForAskinSurfer,

Round & round she goes, where she stops?...nobody knowwws =>
I defer to anyone who has anything to back up their claim other than 'i'll take a stab at it' lol!'

Good eye Al!

I see the bean pod now SS =) google threw out some pretty cool pics of this, flowers are purdy too.

I'm a looky-lou. I love bonsai but only study till my head hurts => Right now my head swims with informal & untrained material that I find beautiful in it's own right but can't help wanting to meddle. I tell my husband all the time, 'whaddaya want?...I'm a girl, a little unruly & not always helpful'

haha. I'm 0 for 3 but I do enjoy the game!!
