japanese boxwood

A nursery i go to all the time dug up a box wood the people did not want any more.. they gave it to me for bonsai.it is potted in a hospital plastic container 11in.x10in x6in. deep..shurb is 2 one half ft tall same wight. it is top heavy can i prune it down now to bonsai height now about 10or12 in ???? trunkis 3 in wide.sorry for long post thank you john...

Not now, wait a month until the tree's dormant and then it'll be much safer to work on it.

I'd actually wait until March to do it there in your zone.
