fungus on my bonsai

Hello,

Recently my bonsai has had white "cottony" fungus growing on it. I have already treated it twice with a systemic fongecide, but the fungus only relents for a coulple of days before coming back. The bonsai has lost many of its leaves, although there are a few, sparsely spread growths here and there. I have the suspicion that the fungus started when I was away this summer and the bonsai was overwatered by my caretaker; i have also been trying to dry it out, but does anyone know how I can stop the fungus from spreading and, very probably, killing my plant?

Thanks very much for any help I can get,
Nihal

It would really help to know what kind of tree you have. And what it's planted in and where it lives, because depending on those and some other factors, different things might be suggested. Can you give some more info. and I might have some ideas?

Hi Lucy, thank you for your message. I have added two posts in the gallery with pictures attached, since I don't really know what kind of bonsai it is.
If you have a moment, please follow the links below.

Follow up: I took my bonsai into the plant store yesterday, where I had originally bought it. They took one look at it and immediately declared "mealy bugs"!!

they will keep the plant for a week or so, then return it to me and show me how to care for it. Apparently it also had a problem of not enough light nor humidity.... goes without saying that i am very much a first time gardner.

So, not fungus... mealy insects.
Lest someone should have a similar experience. :=)

enjoy,
Nihal
