Bonsai Roots showing

Hello! I have a three year old golden gate ficus and recently little white roots gave been popping up out of the soil on the edges of the pot. Is this a problem? Should I trim them back? Water more? I keep the moisture between a 5 and 7 on my moisture meter and it's usually more moist at the bottom than the top.

I would replant and use the soil in the link. You can get the soil in 1 gallon also. The soil in the photo looks old and can cause root rot if it does not dry out well enough.
