Hokkaido Elm

I live in a colder climate it is about to get really cold here and i just bought a hokkaido elm in california and it looked nice. Now the leaves are drying and falling off. I keep this tree indoors. Is this ok?

I wish you would think about abandoning the idea they'll do well, or even 'ok', indoors. I have Hokkaido and Seiju, along with other species of elms, and they all stay outdoors during the growing season and over-winter in an unheated garage. It's sort of like the difference between tolerate and appreciate.

ok thank you I am bringing the tree outside now! and I have a garage that I can put it in for the winter. Thank you so much I live on lake Erie

Doesn't it get slippery in the winter?

I live in the crotch of MI, at the bottom of Saginaw Bay. (Bay City, MI)

;-) That's the crotch formed by the thumb and the rest of the mitten, at the southernmost part (bottom) of the (very large) Saginaw Bay (Lake Huron).
