I'm not much of a green thumb, but my kids decided Mom needed a Gardenia Bonsai for Mother's Day. Luckily we had a warm summer up here in Olympia so he was completely happy on my balcony. Now that the weather has turned, I brought him in and gave him a grow light. Buds turned brown and fell off. Leaves turning yellow. I moved the grow light closer to him (about 3 inches) and am going to try and increase light from 12 hr to 16 hr a day, as I read that on another bonsai site. His soil is staying moist for weeks at a time now. He's resting on a pebble bed, which I keep moist.
What am I doing wrong? Anyone with tips?
