Bonsai Fukien Tea health problem

Jamesboth

I recently purchased a Fukien Tea tree on the internet and I am really new to this whole bonsai stuff this being my first tree. I noticed on the tree when I got it there was dirt like stuff on the leaves that would come off if i rubbed it, also I noticed black things under the leaves and again would rub off. I am a little concerned for my tree and have been searching all over the internet for some kind of explanation as to what the heck these things are, i did look in the forum and could not find anything. If anyone has a clue as to what is going on with my tree that would be greatly apprecaited if you could tell me if I should be conceded and/or how to fix it. Thanks

I'm not sure if this helps at all, but it looks like some kind of mold to me.

These plants are scale magnets, so familiarize yourself with what it looks like and check carefully for this pest. The black stuff growing on the leaves, the stuff that rubs off, is almost certainly sooty mold growing on the honeydew (excreta) left behind by the scale.
