| I have a deep pink bonsai bougainvillea that I received as a gift a year and a half ago. It was so beautiful!! I kept it outside during the summer months and it grew quickly. It had dark green leaves when I got it but as time went on, the new leaves were much lighter in color and no new flowers appeared. I trimmed the new growth and watered it as per the instructions. I brought it in over the winter and it pretty much just sat there with not much new growth. In early Spring it got two pale pink flowers and that was it! I put it back outside this summer but the leaves look wilted (curled up), there have been no flowers at all and I don't know what to do with it. Any suggestions as to why it's doing so poorly??? Thanks. |

| Hi, you said 'as per instructions', but those often are pretty generic and don't account for local conditions, or soil mix, etc. Bougies like to get pretty dry between waterings but need high light conditions all day, so unless you have a serious southern exposure (or full spectrum fluorescents a few inches away) plus a coarse, gritty fast draining soil mix only watered (well) when a fair amount has become dry, try to up the light and 'lower' the watering frequency. |
