Bonsai Mum Cuttings Sources

Posted by terryveg (My Page) on

Here it is fall and I am already thinking of spring.

While living in Japan for 8 years I became fascinated with growing bonsai. Then in later years I found myself in the Sacramento area where got deeply involved, especially with the Korean chrysanthemum varieties. I was fortunate to have Kings Chrysanthemums close by so I was not lacking plant material.

Here it is more than a decade later since leaving the Sacramento area and I find myself living in Illinois and wanting to get back growing bonsai mums and I now see where Kings has cut back on the appropriate varieties they offer for bonsai growers.

I would be interested in learning of any sources other than Kings that offer cuttings, either private or commercial.

Thank you for any assistance.

I have a source for information on "mum" bonsai. You might try contacting Dave. davegLL@LLrc.us
He mounted a spectacular show of these bonsai at the National Arboretum in Wash. DC several years ago. I doubt if there will be another one like it for many years. I hope he will respond to your request for information. He has a wealth of knowledge.
Peace,
JR
