A Palm to Bonsai..

Just realized a few weeks ago on transplanting for the I don't know how many times, that my Chinese fan palm...is Bonsai.
I dont know how many of you saw the Bonsai 20+ year old Trachycarpus fortunei on the net a few weeks ago-but I'm getting that same look from my old potted Livistona chinensis.
And since the question of what palms can be Bonsai comes up-I nominate Chinese fan to the list.

Now Lucy,I know that this isn't true Bonsai. But this palm is much older than it looks, very undersized but healthy, and I can now see that if somebody put real effort they could Bonsai the Chinese fan palm. If I had simply put this palm into a Bonsai pot the effect would stand out much more. The possibilitys are there.

Hi, what I think is that it doesn't matter what you call it (bonsai or not) if you like it and have it in a compatible pot that it doesn't look 'wrong' in. It's your tree and your experiment. If you can get the next batch of leaves to stay small then I guess it would be a bonsai. Are you peeling the trunk to try and do that?

The leaves on the palm pictured indicate it is deficient in potassium.
