I have discovered some strange growths on the trunk of my grewia and would like to know what they are and how to proceed. The bark of the trunk seems to split and beige/brown nodules that could be the beginnings of aerial roots appear; the problem is that there are so many of them clustered together that they are not likely roots. Any ideas would be appreciated; it's too bad that i can't find out how to add images to this posting,

Hi, George, to post pics you must have images on line already. If you're using photobucket, for instance, you can use the first two html codes generated. Josh

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know what "photobucket" is - must be a pc application; I'm on a Mac. I don't have these pictures available except on another discussion forum at: http://forum.bonsaitalk.com/f14/grewia-growths-31038.html#post256268 You would be able to see the pictures there. Thank you for your questions.

Just for the heck of it, Google 'nematodes' (images) and see if there's any resemblance to what your tree's growing.

Hi, thank you for the nematode suggestion. I had a look on Google, but found nothing that resembles the problem on my grewia.

photobucket.com - an image hosting service (no, I don't work for them ;) they just happen to be super user-friendly). Flickr and picasa and webshots (I think) are some others, but I'm not familiar. You could post to the Gallery, as well, but I'm not familiar with that process. It's easier to get feedback from an image posted right here, in Thread. Josh
