Maple seedling: Winter season

I have a 1 year old red maple seedling and was curious if I should bring it inside for the Winter season. It gets fairly cold where I live(Saint Louis, MO). Any responses are greatly appreciated.

Unless your seedling has been indoors all season, leave it where it is and if necessary mulch it into wherever it is (the ground would be the best place). Without the cold, your tree wouldn't do well at all, and while you might feel cold in St. Louis, the tree can take a lot worse.

Ok thank you so much. But I did forget to mention that it is in a pot, for the fact that I am growing for Bonsai. Does this make a difference?

I imagined it was in a pot, but are you sure that can take any freezing that might occur (many crack if they are cheaply made)? Your vest vet is still just getting it out of the pot in one piece, into the ground and mulching around it, OR you could take it as is, sink it into a much larger container (with its own drainage) of mulch and keep it on the porch, in a shed, something that might help keep the strongest winds off it (though with no leaves it won't matter that much) and stop watering when the soil freezes up, piling some snow on top for insulation and natural watering. Also cut way back on water once it loses leaves.
