What type of tree is this?

Off topic: how can i get rid of the mold infestation and how can i take better care of it?

It's an azalea.

Need more info about the 'mold' - is it on the soil and is it mold or dissolved solids left behind on the soil surface as the soil solution evaporates? Usually, if you have fungal growth on the soil surface, it's a fair indication you're keeping the soil too wet, but it depends on what KIND of fungal growth (mold) you're talking about.
