Beginner here........ My Funkien Tea Tree has lost it's foliage completely. There appear to be buds. Will it re sprout? How should it be watered during this stage (if it's still alive? Thank you.
Fukien (not funkien) tea needs a lot of humidity, e.g. a wide tray of water under the pot, with pebbles large enough to keep the pot from touching the water so it won't rot roots. It also needs sun for up to 15 hrs/day which, unless you're in the tropics, usually means a T5 fluorescent hung within 6 inches of the tree. Watering should be done when the top inch or so of the soil is dry, but may easily need to be more often depending on what your mix is like... you'll have to learn fast on that. Many trees lose leaves when first brought home, but if conditions are good they should also grow new ones within a few weeks.
