| hi Everyone,
I'm new to bonsai... I just started this year. I have a bunch of trees but I'm totally not sure how to overwinter them in my zone. My zone is 6b/7a (upper Montgomery County, MD). I have the following trees: one Eastern white pine (Pinus strobus) two serviceberry (Amelanchier canadensis) four camellias (Camellia japonica) two boxwood (Buxus 'Green Velvet') one bayleaf laurel (Laurus nobilis) How should I overwinter these babies? I have absolutely no clue how to do it properly, especially with the diversity of my trees (conifer, deciduous, broadleaf evergreen). Thanks,

| E White pine, Serviceberry, & boxwoods can go in an unheated garage or planted into the ground (pot and all then mulched. The camellias need slighthy cooler temps than your house- so put them in the basement with some lighting. |

| Camellias and laurel... in the house, with lots of light and a bit less water from now to Jan. |

| Thanks for the advice guys. Next question -- when should I do this? Right now? Or wait a couple of weeks? Somebody told me I should wait until our first frosty morning, i.e. when we get a layer of frost on the grass. Is this true? Thanks |

| We are still having 60s during the day here so my hardy trees are still on my benches. Some are still in leaf and have just barely changed color- Some are completely bare. I put them in the garage or in the ground when when have low 40s during the day, usually mid to late november. The camellias and Laurel should be inside already. |

| how much do you water most tree in the winter?? |
|
| If the soil freezes, don't water til it thaws enough to start going dry. If it's been dry weather, and a freeze is predicted for that day/night, do make sure it has water at the roots before the freeze. |

| ok, thanks |
