| I have about a half a dozen serissas right now, and all are healthy. most just went through a crazy blooming period, and I came up with a few curiosity questions... first, I have noticed that everyone has a different way to keep these plants happy, and they have a reputation for being finicky, yet all sorts of methods seem to work... why do you think that is?
next, I cant bear to just throw away sizable clippings, but already it looks like im soon going to have too many, is there interest for me to try and trade them through the exchange? What would be the best way to manage shipping and stuff if I do that? How many have others killed, I have killed at least four, not counting the cuttings that never rooted... Finally, I have tried several varieties, but thus far, only, the first, a double white non-variegated type has worked... What are everyone else’s favorite varieties of this lovely and frustrating little tree? Any other comments on serissas are welcome. |

| Thats kind of funny you post this because I have been wanting to trade some plants. What I was going to look for is some plants that are hard to find down here. However, I can get Serissa with ease down here and am more intereseted in jap red maple or trident and some sort of willow, possibley weeping. As for the shipping part, if you are trading, I think both partys should ship the same packageing, same priority, etc. Its pretty much on the honor system. I dont see anyone ripping some one off for small rooted cuttings. Im jumping the gun though. I have no cuttings or anything to trade. I could go and dig up some austrialian pines or some cyprus. Ill get back to this post when I have something. The only concern I have with trading plants like this is the laws and more so, the environment. Every where in the world there are invasive species that have become problems. For expample, austrialian pine is an invasive species down here and are cut down because of this. I would no want to get fined or even introduce an invasive species somewhere else. So it would be nice to have a website with the state botnical transport laws. Ill get back to this post, later. |
