A naturally-occurring bonsai plant grows in Malta

I found this picture after some time, and I would like your opinion about species id, cultivation and whether commercially available. The picture I took a few years ago was too blurred (Camera was not good enough for close-ups). the one I saw may have had smaller leaves, but this one has a similar bark.

Cascading style seems to fit this plant very well!

It looks like it could be a Fuchsia (lucky you!), so read up on how to take care of it. There are many, many varieties, so wait and see if it has flowers which will help to ID the particular plant. If it's not a Fuchsia, I'm not familiar with it, but have a good time.
