Delonix bonsai

Hi, to be honest, i've never done a bonsai before. I got some delonix regia seeds because I absolutely love them. I've heard that you can bonsai but it is difficult. I may be a newbie but I got 31 seeds and there is a 90% germination rate so there is some room to experiment with. I've heard you should cut the tap root and keep cutting back the header until you get branching. I would love to grow this outside but I know it's not possible. I don't care if it is in "traditional bonsai form" it could be 4-5 feet for all I care. I just can't let it grow to and through the ceiling. I should get 25+ seedlings and I only need one. so if you reccomend scarring the trunk to make it shorter I would try it. I also heard I should keep defoliating to try to reduce leaf size? Any help would be appreciated,

Because of its very large compound leaves, it's probably not going to make a very 'believable' bonsai, but that shouldn't stop you from growing it and enjoying it in a container if you wish. This is not an insult, but I can see there is a good deal of information you're going to need about bonsai culture if you have the determination it takes to become proficient. A club or some basic books will help. The Sunset book that is copyrighted in 2003, titled 'Bonsai', is a surprisingly good text for beginners.

If you would like to read some basic info that will help you keep your plant healthy in containers, please follow the embedded link.

If you need something a little more advanced that offers some information about maintaining woody material in containers for the long term, follow the preceding link.

Best luck to you!
