According to ancient Chinese tradition, the earliest bonsais have no plant in it:

then, plants play major roles ...

The many layered ...

Real snow covered ...

Over a rock ...

Partially dead ...

A neo-bonsai, perhaps

Are the pictures from one bonsai garden that is open to the public. I would love to visit it if possible.

I especially enjoyed the first one of the rocks in a 'sea'. And the sixth one - the 'creature' on the rock which inspired and launched imagination into flight.

Thank you for sharing. Such good pictures really help to train the eyes and one's standards of excellence. Appreciated.

Vetivert,

It seems you are quite knowledgeable about these. If you like the first one, you have mastered the fundamental idea of bonsai.

Please also comment on the other post of mine: GW post on bonsai furniture. Although the design of the furniture is ancient, it does show off the beauty of bonsai plants. I feel a sense of beauty and leisure by looking at the set. Now come back to real life, I frown at my small living room filled with computers, TVs and video games.

Paul3636, are you traveling out of the country? Tell us more about your plan and interests.

I feel silly, for I do not understand the fundamental idea of a bonsai. I don't understand the first one :(.

Could you enlighten me please?

I wish I was traveling out of the country but there are other Asian gardens and bonsai gardens. I hope to see the bonsai garden within Washington DC in the next 2 years. I understand Goshin is at it's entrance.

philosofickle, you are giving me a hard time.

If I dare to, ... you might look at the lower-left side ... around the boundary between the white fine sand and dark rock ... imagine you are a little ant there ...

paul3636, where is the garden near DC? Do you know the name?
