If I recall, it can do well with the cascade method. Another one I've seen, you would need an older tree to start with this style, is to have the main trunk going horizontal (half buried in the soil) with the branches coming off forming small trees.

First off I would visualise how you would like the tree too look when its finished. Look at other trees draw pictures etc.. to get the image in your head. After you have that accomplished the first thing I would do is allow the tree to grow almost completely unchecked until you have a sufficient trunk diameter to that of which you would like to have when the tree is finished this is the most time consuming stage of development but can be mostly bypassed by purchasing advanced tree stock that already has good trunk girth.
