I visited the islands of Malta in 2010. Along the beach cliffs I noticed a low-lying plant, that looks like a miniature pine tree with deadwood. The pine tree is highly prized as a bonsai tree because the way it looks and specimens with deadwood are often collected from the wild. The plant in question looks almost the same.

The plant's bark is very white and looks like a bonsai with much deadwood. However, the plant is much smaller, and fits easily in the palm of your hand. The nature of this plant is unknown, and I even don't know if this is a native pine or an angiosperm (all flowering plants). I searched many picture galleries featuring Maltese flora but could not find it.
