The first photo looks more like an adenium to me(I have two). Really it was the trunk shape & colour, that makes me suggest this. It could be a ficus, but enter adenium in google images for a look. Good luck Ron |
the 1st picture on your post is
| | |
| a desert rose, the 2nd picture is a ficus. not sure what the botanical name is but it is called a ficus. if you have any questions send me an email through gardenweb memebers page. ps: i have 2 of each plant. |

| i agree with many of the above. the first is a dessert rose and the second is a ficus. good luck with the dessert rose they do become quite beutiful, but from experience. they see to attract parasite like crazy. i took care f one for a teacher in the school green house and it was the only one in there with a hug mealy bug problem. (quite sad realy) I also found that they are pretty fragile. (long and sad story) |

| They probably had mealy bug from being overwatered, but that doesn't mean they're fragile. |

| Just a note here about nomenclature (what you call stuff):- Bonsai means Tree (or plant) in a Pot. It's an old Japanese word. The Chinese version is Penjing (but there are other versions of that one). Neither of those have anything to do with the proper (Latin) or common names of any particular tree (species). No tree would ever be called "Bonsai" anything, but is called by the Genus name (first), e.g. 'Acer' (for Maple), then the Species name (Acer rubrum - the species name is not capitalized), then the Variety (A. rubrum 'nana' - nana means small, tho' in fact there isn't a 'nana' A. rubrum in real life :-). So the tree in question here is a Ficus 'ginseng', no more and no less. Lecture overwith! |
