Probably not... but only time will tell if you also supply the right soil mix, watering smarts and close attention to any changes that take place. Try to find a local club and talk to them, maybe bring in your tree to see what they think and for advice on repotting, pruning, etc.

After posting the OP, I found some articles by a Jack Wikle. It was mainly about growing Bonsai trees under fluorescent lighting and he mentioned that he has been growing two juniper bonsai under those lights for over 20 years with no trips outdoors.

I am going to read all that I can by him and will use his knowledge as my example to follow.

Nevermind. We brought it back. After I told my wife that I wanted to get a shelf and fluorescent lighting for it, she said no.

Jack W. has been saying that for years. Dozens of people I know as bonsai experts around the world say different... so don't hold your breath. You don't have the same conditions he has in any case (it's doubtful you could begin to institute them overnight). I don't want to discourage you, but I suppose at this point you have little to lose.

Have you considered trying out bonsai with something like Ficus? I think your conditions would be fine for a ficus.
