Bonsai for christmas

I got a dawn redwood for christmas shipped from mississippi
to Palm Springs Ca.
The tree spent 4 days in a box in southern U.S.
states. It arrived dormant and I put it in the refrigerator.
Does anybody know when I can let it break dormancy?
When should I remove it from the fridge?

Any advice would be appreciated?

It sounds to me like the tree never went into dormancy at all before your fridge... do you know how cold it is in there? Or any more about where it was prior to shipping? How big is it/how old? Are there green leaves on it? Buds? Where do you live (it may matter)?
