    Congratulations, Kev!

This is one of the best photo documents of H.Papilio I am aware of.
And, yes 3 blooms / stem.
Exceptional plant health can be concluded from the leaf shape, too.
Such images make beat the hearts of amaryllis lovers HIGHER.
Did you try to obtain seeds from your blooms?

Thank you for the nice comments.

Hans - I haven't yet, although I still could. I'm not sure if I want to go through the whole process of raising a bunch of these. This one plant takes up more than it's share of space.

If you do decide to let it go to seed, I'd love to get some of them if at all possible!

    Hello Kev

I am interested whether there ARE clones of H.papilio which do NOT refuse setting seed after self pollination.
Seed pod formation does not weaken the plant, is a nice event to be seen, and, yes, there will be several amaryllis-lovers who are very interested in obtaining seeds from such a nice plant!

    Absolutely stunning photo Kevin!

I have a small bulb which hasn't flowered yet. I did buy what I thought was Papilio and got Merengue..

Here's my sister's plant which was labeled papilio but clearly isn't. I think it's rather wonderful just the same.

Here is a link that might be useful: papilio

You're right that is nice. Sure looks like it might have some Papilio in it.

    Hello kniphofia.

Your unknown hybrid is very similar to "GIRAFFE" both in color distribution and particularly in shape. Furthermore this kind of spotting adds a lot to the charm of these flowers which are particularly elegantly shaped in their lower half. Both hybrids clearly have H.papilio in their parentage (I judge this essentially from the narrow picotee).
Did you and your sister, respectively obtain seeds from this fine pink hybrid after pollination?

This is a hybrid with obvious H.papilio parentage.
This should be "Jaguar" or a very related hybrid.

Does anyone have experiance with papilio as a cut flower?

Not with papilio, but I have cut other amaryllis. They seem to last almost longer as a cut flower than they do on the plant.

I agree with Kevin.I use 2 tae spoon sugar and 15 drops of house hold bleech in rxtra large vase holding 8 to 10 stalks.Even the smallest bud opens as if on the plant.
