Van Engelen has nice bulbs but I don't know if they are shipping at this time.

Thank you for your response. Have you had success with these bulbs purchased from Van Engelen? I think Home Depot sells them but they look small.

walmart has them and mine was huge!!! but it only has 1 stalk

tlbean - seems what you have there is an amaryllis/hippeastrum. And, yes, Walmart had a million of the boxed kits.

I'm assuming (rightly or wrongly) the OP is inquiring about the true lilium "Stargazer" bulbs. I've grown lots of lilies here over the years and if the bulbs are priced right and are at least the size of a Ping-Pong ball (or slightly larger) that is sufficient to produce a healthy stem and candelabra of blooms. If you're in zone 9, I can't say much about growing lilies without a period of cold - they don't need any special care here in colder climates.

Just planted them a month or two ago and waiting to see them grow this coming season.

Just saw some at Sam's Club today. That will depend on your level of comfort with buying at box stores versus local or online nurseries, but since you were OK with Home Depot, I think Sam's Club will be fine.

I did buy some from one of those Dutch-named websites last spring. I can say the bulbs were larger and felt healthier, so I liked that part, but maybe because it's the first year that they were growing, they didn't grow any different from what I've also gotten at the box stores.

I planted Landini from Brecks back in Oct/Nov, when do they normally start growing?

I have not had good luck with bulbs from Sam;s. Too often dried up. Home Depot has been better. I go through multiple bags to pick out big ones, If there are no big ones, I don't buy. If the store if overheated, I don't buy. If the store keeps the bulbs in the cool vestibule, they are smart, and I buy.

Bought stargazers at Home Depot last year. A couple blooms were deformed and LONG time coming. One small full flower didnt bloom til November...and several did not bloom. VERY disappointing.

i'm looking for a good lily source for bulbs as well. I'm waiting for Brent and Becky's Bulbs to activate their 2015 updated website...as they are highly regarded on DG Watch Dog.

Any other in put?

Linnea.. your buying practice sounds very sound, as Lily bulbs dry out. Some stores dont take good care of where they put their bulbs.
