digging up potted bulbs

i have dafodil bulbs and the tall white flower that look like dafodills and they have already flowered. its just leaves. i also have hyasinth which is flowering now. how do i know when to remove them from pot to store them. can i dig them up now and just cut off the leaves

You should let the plants go dormant by themselves before digging and storing. In my climate I never dig daffodils unless I want to move or divide them. Al

Yes like Calistoga said You will want to let them go dormant and wait until all the leaves have turned yellow and dried up because thats the best time so they can build up energy. then it's ok to dig them up!
