Can I replant Elephant Ears once they sprout ?

A friend told me that I could have all of the Elephant Ear bulbs that I wanted last summer. They were all around his house. Now we don't know where they are until they push up thru the dirt. I plan to dig up a bunch of them as soon as they do and replant them. How will they do ?

They should do fine. They will probably not look like the bulbs you have seen in the nurseries. Large fleshy roots are more likely. Take as much soil as possible with the roots, and waiting for the foliage to appear is a good idea. Al

Yep, they should do fine.
Howdy neighbor!...I'm just down the interstate 20 in Tyler!
I've dug up EEs before in spring/early summer and left them in buckets with little soil/water for over a week before transplanting, just left them out of direct sunlight and they did well after replanting...those things are tough! Just be sure to water well :)
