Hyacinth blooms under soil

I had planted a few hyacinth in pots with cheap top soil. They have now started blooming but part of the bloom stalk is just under the soil line. Is that normal? This is my first time with bulbs. Did I plant them too deep? I think I planted them about 4-5 inches deep.

They still look fantastic and smell great though. But it would have been nice if the stalk were a little taller.
