novice looking for summer bulbs...

Hi, I'm looking for some suggestions for hardy summer bulbs in a partial shade situation. Am I tilting at windmills?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

RE: novice looking for summer bulbs...

There are a few summer bulbs that are happy in shade to part shade - caladiums, the elephant ears (Alocasia and Colocasia), bletilla or ground orchid, some oriental and trumpet lilies, calla lilies, begonias, scadoxus and achimenes. And some sun loving bulbs will tolerate midafternoon shade and still bloom well.

Hardiness may be an issue :-) Many summer bulbs are subtropical in origin and will need to be lifted and stored for the winter.
