Time to remove chicken wire?

We planted new tulips this Fall for the first time. I don't have a lot of experience with bulbs. But I read the recommendation to put chicken wire over them; we have lots of squirrels and rabbits around. And chipmunks.

Is it time to remove the wire? It was not the intention to leave it there permanently, was is? A silly question, I know, but are they at risk of being dug up every year?

I remove chicken wire before the plants grow really tall so that they won't get tangled in the chicken wire.
Squirrels usually dig up disturbed soil, not those bulbs that have already been established.

Rabbits are another story. They love new shoots. I usually sprinkle blood meal around new shoots of tulips and crocus. It deters squirrels and rabbits pretty well.

Dunno about chipmunks. :-)
