I live in California's Marin county, very close to San Francisco Bay where the 2013 2014 winter has been very mild.

A year ago we planted about a dozen freesias, they prospered and bloomed. The colors were clean.

This year the freesias have bloomed again, about half of them are now showing a mix of colors in a single bloom - yellow and an orange tinted red.

I've searched the web and this forum w/o success. Does any one know the cause of the color change?
