I think your best bet might be to pose the question on daffnet (I think you need to be a member) or easier use the daff society contact page to ask your question and they'll likely post the question for you and forward the responses your way.
Be careful though, they'll surely try to trick you into an exploding daffodil obsession.
I wonder if it's a fertilizer issue. Less nitrogen, maybe more potassium such in a tomato fertilizer?

Can't answer your question really. I have them, & they have bloomed, but not much the last couple of years. I had assumed because they have multiplied so very much & meant to divide last year. Definitely will this year & see what happens. Mine were planted fairly shallow.

Absolutely bone dry baking in it's dormancy. I toured a local famous gardener's property some years ago and recall this. Similar to Iris reticulata danfordiae. Maybe lifting the bulbs over the summer and storing ?
