I am familiar with eucomis and it is not that plant. One thing to add; the flowers start out white then turn green. Another thing is that the spotting on the leaves resembles the spotting on toad lily leaves. I got this plant from a master gardener and I plan on showing to another master gardener for possible ID.

Can you describe the form of the flowers? Lily like? spiky? etc. By "scaling type growth", do you mean the bulb has scales or are you talking about a problem with foliage?

Sounds like Drimiopsis maculata, which I grow in the greenhouse but is hardy to zone 7b.

Another possibility is one of the Ledebouria, esp L. socialis.
