tulip stems turning red

I am new to tulips - got some on sale at the local grocery store...they were in bloom in the pot. Planted them and they lasted about 1 week. their stems are turning red from the ground up. I DO have others that I got last year and they are not doing this.
I bought 4 pots this year and planted them in different beds, and they are all turning red from the ground up.
Is this normal???
Here is a picture.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Dina :)

They are turning red becuase of the colder tempature change. (inside to outside)

No long term damage. They may fade a bit faster because they are stressed, but they will make it to next year.

Several tulip varieties normally come up red and only turn green as it gets warmer as the season goes on.
