English bluebells

We mostly think of these beauties as woodland bulbs but I took this photo two days ago on the clifftops of Devon, England. There were acres of them. Full sun, South facing, sharp draining and subject salty gales and spray. (One day I'll remember to get the sea horizontal!)

RE: English bluebells

I bought some of these and planted them along a wooded path years ago --and have never seen a single flower because the deer or rabbits or something eat them every year. Maybe this year I'll finally remember to move them someplace safer.

Could you smell them, flora? I bought English instead of Spanish bluebells because they are said to be fragrant.
