Crocosmia Lucifer

Hi All

I have just received the Crocosmia corms that I ordered. Since it's still too cold up here (SE Manitoba Canada) to plant outdoors, I need advise on starting them indoors.

The bulb catalogue said to plant the plants in groups of 8-10, but the instructions say to plant the corms 8" - 10" apart.

Can I plant 4 or 5 of the corms together in a 6" diameter starting pot? Then just plant that as one plant when it warms up? Usually I purchase a growing plant(s) in the 6" pots, but I've never counted how many corms are in it.

It's much much too cold for them to overwinter in the ground here, and I've never tried to save them over the winter. But this year I figured I'd try to start them myself.

Any help would be appreciated by me and the Hummers that I'm expecting in another couple of weeks!

Thanks

Barb
