A happy Scilla surprise

I really love scilla for naturalizing. I have had S. siberica in my lightly shaded hillside lawn for over 15 years, S. biflora for about 6 years, and just planted S. tubergeniana 2 years ago. This last one appears to be clump forming, but the others have spread by seed over distances of 30-40 feet from their initial placements, and now give a lovely sprinkling of deep blue-purple over a large area.

This afternoon I noticed a single snow white S. siberica flower among the hundreds of the blue ones. Apparently a chance mutation, the alba form is known although I have never purchased nor planted them. I was happily surprised to see this one. I have marked it's spot, and will carefully watch it in coming years.
