tulip bulbs

Posted by tulipnutts none (My Page) on

We have a friend that planted 400 tulip bulbs. She is just going to pull them up and throw them away when they have bloomed out.
We want to save these and replant them.
We don't have a basement to keep them in.
How do we do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, We hate to see these go to waste.

keep them in paper bags anywhere dark & not wet. like coffee tins, etc. if the bulbs are coming up before they die back naturally then I'd personally put in some clean sawdust (like hamster bedding) to help with the moisture control. Basement not required :-)

RE: tulip bulbs

Depending on how early they are pulled you might want to replant them and let them die off naturally. That will give them a little time to form new bulbs for next year. The longer they grow the more likely you will be to see some success. Don't expect too much though, and the further south you are, the lower your chances will be.
