when can i plant freesias?

I just planted freesias for the first time. Will they bloom this year and what do they look like when they sprout? I purchased them at Walmart and I thought the package said they were annuals.

I can not tell from your post, you may be in New Zealand. Here in California Freesias are now through their bloom cycle and will go dormant until fall. They are a perennial bulb which will return for many years if planted in the right climate. They are a cool season plant. Al
