Storing bulbs

I know, it's too early for this. Last year I bought a caladium and just let it go when the frost came. So wasteful and it was beautiful and happy where it was.

This year I don't want to make that mistake and when it begins to stop growing I want to store the bulbs properly. Our garage on any winter day is only about 10 to 15 degrees warmer during the winter. We can get pretty cold here. I read that caladiums need to rest in 50 degree warmth, which my garage will not be during the dead of winter.

What does everyone else do?
